Rishikesh to Wan Village

Scenic drive from Bageshwar to Jhuni, an authentic village base camp at the foot of the trail. Drive distance: 57kms/4hours Altitude Gain: 2,100m 

Jhuni to Pankhu top

A steady, steep climb out of the forest leading up to wide alpine views at Pankhu Top. Trek Distance: 7kms/6hours Altitude Gain: 3,440m

Pankhu Top to Kautela

An off-beat traverse along open ridgelines with steep sections, ending at the historic Kautela stone hut. Trek Distance: 10km/8hours Altitude Gain: 3,842m

Kautela Bugyal

Ascend above 4,000 m for front-row views of Nanda Devi and the Pindari, Sundardhunga, and Kafni glaciers. Trek Distance: 5km/3hours Altitude Gain: 4000m

Kautela to Jhuni

Descend along the ridge and forest trails back to Jhuni village for a final night stay. Trek Distance: 17km/8hours Altitude Gain: 4000m

Jhuni to Bageshwar

Return drive from Jhuni village back to Bageshwar to wrap up the trek. Drive distance: 57kms/4hours

Kautela stands out for its massive alpine meadows and spectacular Himalayan views. From the bugyal, you can see the Pindari, Kafni and Sundrdhunga glaciers, with Nanda Devi rising in the middle. The area also sees very few tourists compared with popular Uttarakhand treks.
